Fairmont Police Drug Interdiction Efforts
The Fairmont Police Department works very hard to keep illegal drugs off our streets. Fairmont Police Officers work in conjunction with the Martin County Sheriff’s Department, the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force, the Minnesota State Patrol, and surrounding law enforcement agencies. Our goal is to not only to arrest and prosecute drug offenders, but also help prevent people in our community from being harmed by illegal drugs and drug related crimes.
The Fairmont Police Department uses a variety of tactics for combating illegal drugs. We make use of confidential informants who give police information about drug users and dealers. However, the majority of drug arrests stem from “routine” traffic stops and anonymous tips from concerned citizens. A small amount of drugs found in a vehicle or on a person can lead to search warrants or information that lead to larger amounts of drugs and drug dealers taken off the streets of our community.
The Fairmont Police Department offers up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of people involved in illegal drugs. Anyone with information concerning illegal drugs in our community is encouraged to call the Fairmont Police Department non-emergency number (507) 238-4481 and ask to speak to an on-duty officer.
Working together with the citizens of Fairmont we can greatly reduce the amount of illegal drugs in our community.
